The Skellig Islands, Skellig Michael and Small Skellig, stand 12 km southwest of Valentia Island, County Kerry, Republic of Ireland.
These Skellig Islands are world-famous, each in its own right: Skellig Michael is known throughout the world of archaeology as the site of a well-preserved monastic outpost of the Early Christian period – now designated a World Heritage Site and in my humble opinion is Ireland's Machu Picchu.
Small Skellig is equally renowned ornithologically as the home of approximately 27,000 pairs of gannets – the second largest colony of such seabirds in the world.
Recently, I noticed that the image of the rock stacks or pillars reminded me of the famous Hubble images of M16: Pillars of Creation take a look, what do you think?
